Media Appearances

Together with his team, Reinout invests in public resources, for the public, clinicians and other researchers. They developed a public website where people can do online training for free, with a special portal for clinicians, who can invite their clients. They also made resources available for fellow researchers, e.g. a validated picture-set of alcohol and control stimuli (Pronk et al, 2015). Reinout wrote two popular science books (2007: Slaaf van het Onbewuste, over Emotie, Verslaving & Bewustzijn; 2013: Grip op je Problemen, Cognitieve Training bij Verslaving en Angst), and several protocols and papers for clinicians (in Dutch), and articles in journals and general newspapers concerning publicly relevant matters relating to addiction. Furthermore, he was invited by a parliamentary committee of the Dutch Parliament to discuss the legal drinking age (11-2011), which was raised from 16 to 18 years in the Netherlands.

The retraining results (2011 paper) also received extensive international coverage (e.g. Economist 3.3.11), and a documentary on it was made for national television in the Netherlands.
